Vintage Demi-Parure with Navette-Cut Glass Stones
Rows of clear rhinestones and slender glass stones in red, green, blue and violet form a complete demi-parure for the neck and wrist.
The set is designed to come alive in motion. The clear stones form a continuous field of light, while the coloured navettes sit like leaf-shaped accents across the gold-coloured base. The bracelet repeats the necklace’s rhythm through the same stone shapes, colour palette and metal tone. Worn together, the two pieces create a carefully composed line from the neck to the wrist.
Coordinated jewellery sets have a long history within the tradition of the parure. During the twentieth century, this idea was translated into costume jewellery made from glass and metal. From the 1940s to the 1960s, Trifari, Hattie Carnegie and Jomaz worked with rhinestones and coloured glass in coordinated sets, while 1980s fashion revived large-scale forms, strong colour and pronounced evening glamour. This set is visually close to that later aesthetic.
The jewellery was purchased in Berlin. The place of purchase is recorded as provenance and is not used as an attribution of national origin.
As a demi-parure, the pieces are already coordinated in colour, stone shape and metal tone. The necklace can define a solid-coloured dress, while the bracelet carries the same colour and brilliance into a blazer or silk blouse. Each piece also works independently and retains the set’s festive character.
All visible stones remain in place. In densely set rhinestone jewellery, a complete arrangement is especially important, allowing the rhythm, colour distribution and brilliance of the entire design to remain uninterrupted.
