Long Natural Turquoise Necklace
Ninety centimetres of natural turquoise in free-form shapes, with visible veining and colour variations from blue to blue-green.
The stones range from approximately 3 to 15 millimetres and retain irregular shapes that follow the natural form of the material. Variations run throughout the entire strand, including clearer blue areas, paler sections, and dark matrix that follows the mineral’s own structure.
Turquoise is an opaque mineral in which veining and remnants of the surrounding host rock may remain visible within the material. In this necklace, these natural variations form the basis of the composition. Its generous length allows it to be worn as a single long strand or combined with other necklaces in a layered arrangement.
From the 1960s and 1970s onwards, many designers allowed the natural irregularity of turquoise to guide their compositions instead of using fully calibrated strands. Free-form stones, darker veining, paler areas, and colour variations from one stone to the next became central to the design. Read more.
