Four opals and 48 sapphires extend throughout the elongated design, giving the pair a rich gemstone presence. Two rosettes in each earring create a cohesive composition with elegant movement and classic character.
Each earring is composed of two opals surrounded by closely set halos of round-cut sapphires. The rosettes are joined by a slender articulated bar, allowing the lower gemstone section to move independently while preserving the earrings’ straight and balanced length.
The soft lustre of the opals meets the deep colour of the sapphires in a carefully balanced contrast across both gemstone sections. The opals were most likely added as replacements for the original stones. Two of the opals do not rest completely against the base of their settings, although all four are held securely in place by the claws.
The sapphires have microscopic chips and fractures that are visible only under microscopic examination. The earrings should be cleaned gently by hand. Ultrasonic cleaning must be avoided.
The earrings bear a 925 mark. Magnetic testing indicates that the base material is a magnetic alloy with a silver-plated surface.
